Company History

A.L. Mantovani & Sons Ltd was established in 1856 by Antonio Lorenzo Mantovani. The business subsequently passed on to his sons.

A.L. Mantovani & Sons Ltd was originally established as a Ship Agency in Larnaca which was the commercial centre of the island at the time. It expanded into booking travel for passengers on its represented passenger liners (such as Lloyd Austriaco and Lloyd Triestino) travelling to Italy and Australia.

Close family and business connections with Italy meant that the A.L. Mantovani & Sons Ltd was also home to the Italian Honorary Consulate for over 60 years.

In the 1930s, A.L. Mantovani & Sons Ltd began organising Shore Excursions for passengers on visiting cruise ships chartered by American Express.

With the development of air travel, A.L. Mantovani & Sons Ltd developed its travel agency operations and was one of the first IATA accredited agencies on the island. In 1954, it was  one of 7 founding members of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents and operated an IATA department till 2021.

Since 2016 A.L. Mantovani is primarily a Destination Management Company specialising in religious, cultural and archaeological tours as well as arranging custom-made Team Buidling activites for Corporate clients.

All its  current shipping activity is undertaken by Associated Agencies Ltd where it is a 50% shareholder.
